What are rocks for?
When you join Rocky Ads, you receive 3 rocks.
Throw a rock on an ad that violates our policies or has problems. That starts a conversation with the ad owner so you can work together to resolve the issue.
Ads with more than 2 rocks are excluded from search listings. Choose a reason before you throw; you can review a provisional dispute assessment first. Once the issue is resolved, you (the thrower) can Unthrow and get your rock back. Rocks are limited — use them wisely.
Why do you need my phone number?
Rocky Ads connects buyers and sellers through messaging. We need your phone number mainly so we can notify you when someone sends you a message.
Ideally we would not collect personal information at all, but we do need a reliable way to reach you. Rocky Ads is built to collect as little as possible while still working.
A text-capable phone number is a practical choice: texting is everywhere, and it helps tie each account to a real person. We do not ask for your email, mailing address, payment details, or other profile information — your phone number is the only contact info we collect.
During signup we send a one-time verification code to confirm the number can receive texts. After that, we text you when other users message you. You can turn text notifications on or off anytime in Settings.
We do not sell your phone number, share it with other users, or use it for marketing unrelated to your account.
How does account recovery work?
If you forget your password, Rocky Ads recovery proves you control the phone number on your account. You start recovery in the browser, text a one-time code from that number, then set a new password.
That means phone possession is powerful. If someone takes over your number at the carrier—for example through a SIM swap or an unauthorized port—they may complete recovery and change your password.
Use a strong, unique password on Rocky Ads, and protect your carrier account (account PIN, port-out or SIM locks where available). We do not collect email as a second recovery channel by design.
Why am I not getting text messages?
First, open Settings and confirm text messages are turned on.
Replying STOP to a text from us also turns off message notifications in Settings. Replying START (or turning notifications back on in Settings) turns them on again in the app.
You can turn notifications off or on anytime from Settings without texting STOP or START.
